As a pearl of Africa, Uganda has many wonderful attractions that push visitors to its shores each year. This land-locked country enjoys many wonderful beaches, 80% of which can be found in the Entebbe area with Clean, beautiful white-sand, sunrises and remarkable rare birds species. At these Beaches, Ugandans and visitors to Uganda spend a lot of quality time with their families and friends enjoying themselves. These beaches tend to attract big crowds on weekends and public holidays. The main attractions at the beaches include swimming and eating the whole tilapia fish.
Serena Resort Beach
Looking for a nice place for relaxation? Serena Resort Beach is there for you that located 15 kilometers away from Kampala in the Kigo district. The beach is part of Lake Victoria and access to it is restricted only to the guests of the Hotel. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery and is good for various water activities. More so, there is a possibility to play a game of golf. Visitors to this area can be seen enjoying various water sports. Serena Resort Beach is not recommended for swimming due to the risk of bilharzia. For those who would like go swimming, the resort has a large pool to cool down after a hot day.
Lutembe Beach
As you continue further away from Kampala, you will reach Lutembe Beach. It is located after Kajjansi along Kampala – Entebbe Road at Namulanda. Unlike the other beaches, access to Lutembe beach is free and camping around the beach is possible. More so, the Beach is an important area for conservation of the White-winged Terns in Uganda, which makes it a place of particular interest for all bird watchers.
Nabinonya Beach
It is located about 30 kilometers from Kampala a beautiful beach with a campsite nearby. Nabinonyo Beach is mainly occupied by the youths and families and on top of that, it has a number of snacks and cold drink kiosks that makes you refresh every now and then through the dry seasons. The beach is lovely in a way that it has a forest inhabited by Red tailed Monkeys and plenty of birds and reptiles that one can never miss out. In other words, the beach is credited for its natural beauty.
Imperial Beaches
Finally arriving at Entebbe, 42 kilometers southwest of Kampala, there are two fine beaches situated very close to each other – Imperial Resort Beach and Imperial Botanical Beach. They are maintained by Imperial Resort Hotel and Imperial Botanical Hotel. Inside, you will have the chance to viewing many rare birds, exotic trees and plants. Both beaches are excellent for sunbathing and water sport activities.
Lido Beach
Lido Beach is one of the oldest beaches in Entebbe and Uganda at large. It is located approximately 1 kilometer from the Entebbe International Airport. Lido Beach is considered a party spot and it is favorite for locals. An event is held there almost every weekend, ranging from family-oriented activities to wild parties. The white sand is perfect for volley ball. Like everywhere else in Lake Victoria, swimming is not allowed due to risk of bilharzia. However guests can take boat rides at a fee as meals are also served on order. If you are looking to have fun locally, just drop by Lido Beach on a weekend.
Ssese Islands
The Ssese Islands are one of 84 wonderful Islands situated in the North-western side of the largest freshwater Lake in Uganda (Lake Victoria). Sandy beaches within the Ssese Islands are smaller in size, secluded and are surrounded by Palm trees hence good for unwinding and perfect for honeymooners because of their tranquil surroundings and the little crowds. It is a perfecd place for bird watching due to the availability of exotic birds, moneys and even the occasional crocodile and Hippo. The islands make up the Kalangala District in the Central Region. Trips between islands can be arranged from Kalangala by lake taxi or private boat. You can rent a bicycle, enjoy a nice bonfire at nights, or visit the party scene on weekends along Kalangala Bay. Have something to eat or enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the many restaurants and pubs in Kalangala Town nearby.
Aero Beach
This is located 1 kilometer from Entebbe International Airport and is one of the most attractive Beaches offering a lot of space compared to the neighborhood beach (Lido) in Uganda. The uniqueness of this Beach is never crowded. For Sun-worshippers and those looking for quiet places, Aero Beach should be your next Beach option.
Botanical garden Beach
Botanical Garden Beach is a serene Beach situated near Botanical garden and offers visitors with the opportunity of sighting extraordinary bird species, exotic tree and plant species, activities possible within this Beach include swimming, sunbathing and boat rides within Lake Victoria.
Spennah Beach
This is one of the favored beaches by the locals and is considered a party beach. On a common weekend, events like weddings, birthday parties, fashion shows and music festivals are in place. The week days enjoy a fairly quieter time where lovers, friends and families can be seen sprawled out on the white-sanded treasure. If you desire to blend in with the locals, this beach is the best place. Order some snacks or famous chicken roast from the kitchen whenever you plan to stop by.
